Model Strengths:

Plenty of passenger room; quiet ride; smooth, powerful acceleration

Model Overview:

Cadillac offers four versions of the DTS, all with a powerful 4.6-liter V8 under the hood that makes 275 horsepower. The top-level Platinum edition squeezes out a few more horsepower for a rating of 292. All versions have a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive, plus 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, StabiliTrak stability control, traction control and tire pressure monitoring.
In addition to active safety systems, driver and passenger-sensing air bags are standard. Being under the GM umbrella, the Cadillac DTS has standard OnStar assistance, which automatically notifies emergency personnel in case of a crash, unlocks the doors remotely, diagnoses vehicle issues and includes roadside assistance. Rear parking assist is standard on all but the base DTS.

Since this is a luxury car, plenty of amenities are standard across the lineup. Remote keyless entry, power locks and power heated mirrors, performance tires and high-intensity discharge xenon headlights come on all DTS models. Inside, you'll find leather seating surfaces, power front seats, dual-zone climate control, cruise control and sound system with CD player.

Some features, such as heated front seats are available on the base DTS and standard on the Luxury, Premium and Platinum models. The Luxury edition also adds a sunroof, rear heat ducts and Bluetooth connectivity, while the Premium has wood trim, an upgraded sound system from Bose, navigation system and side mirrors with integrated turn signals. The performance aspects of the DTS Platinum go beyond the chrome bits on the exterior; it also has an active suspension system. The Side Blind Zone Alert system and Lane Departure Warning are available at the Premium level and standard on the Platinum.

Model Changes:

Not much new for 2010, though lane departure sensors and a blind zone alert system have been added to the options list. The Platinum edition adds some flash with 18-inch chrome wheels, a chrome grille and other shiny exterior trim.

Model Value:

With its improved fit and finish and its array of available configurations, the DTS still holds its own in the luxury sedan segment. The DTS is largest sedan in the Cadillac line-up. DTS buyers value the car's soft, comfortable ride and the notably quiet interior.
